Short videos for your new NCERT maths book, topic by topic
PrepShorts is a study companion for the NCERT books. Each section of a chapter gets a short video made from those exact pages — the same figures, the same activities, the same words — followed by the book’s own pages, the key terms and a five-question check.
Stuck on a topic? Watch a short video that goes through the same pages of your NCERT book, then check yourself with five questions.
A whole topic, free and with no account — exactly as a student sees it.
The problem, plainly
The book is excellent. Most students read it alone.
Every year, millions of students open the same NCERT textbooks. Some have a tutor on call and a shelf of guidebooks; many have only the book itself. The book deserves better company than that — its figures are meant to be read aloud, its activities are meant to be done with real erasers and real string, and its section numbers are a map that most students never learn to use.
What’s missing isn’t content. It’s someone to walk through the pages with you: to read Fig. 5.5 the way it was drawn, to stop at Activity 5.1 and say actually do this, to ask five questions at the end and tell you honestly whether the idea landed. PrepShorts is that someone, built as software — one short video per section of the book you already own.
How it works
Join with your school code
Your school registers once; you enter its code and your account joins your class. No code yet? Join on your own and link your school later.
One video per topic
Each topic’s video follows the book’s own pages — same figures, same activities, same words. The book stays open; the video walks you through it.
Check yourself, then revise
A small check closes each topic; chapter tests when you’re ready. PrepShorts keeps your map — what’s covered, what’s weak, what to revise next.
What sits on a topic page
Everything one section of the book needs, in one place
8–13 minutes, sectioned exactly as the chapter prints — every marker a figure, an activity or an idea, every one clickable.
The textbook passage with its page numbers, and the figures drawn large enough to actually read — Fig. 5.5 as the book meant it.
Instant feedback per question. Video watched + check passed = topic covered; anything under 60% goes on the revision list.
The section’s vocabulary in a glance — each term defined the way the chapter defines it, not the way a dictionary would.
Every section has famous wrong turns — “a broken scale is useless” — named before they cost marks.
Doubts sent to your teacher from the exact moment of confusion — answered once, for the whole class — and a quick rating that tells us if the page taught.
A sitting, described
Fifteen minutes, one topic, properly closed
No feed, no autoplay, no streaks. A session is the length of a topic, and it ends when the topic does — with the dashboard cell filled and the next topic waiting for tomorrow. Parents: the for-parents page walks through exactly this.
One companion, three seats
Videos that follow your pages, checks that close each topic, and a map of what to revise before the exam. Notes and doubts pinned to the minute.
Check scores for each class and doubts in one place, with a short video for every NCERT topic you teach. Tell us your school and we will help bring it on board.
See which NCERT maths topics every class has covered and understood, Classes 6 to 12. ₹25,000 a year + GST for the whole school; schools joining now pay ₹15,000 + GST for their first year.
What we are building for
Three things a study companion has to get right
PrepShorts is in pilot. When schools have used it for a term we will quote them here, by name and with their permission.
A question asked at 9 pm, from the exact second of the video, should be answered once — and read by the whole class in the morning.
A child who is stuck should be told which topic, not which chapter — and should be able to open it in one tap.
A term report should be written from what actually happened, three weeks before the test rather than three weeks after.
Coverage today
Classes 6 to 12, chapter by chapter
Mathematics, Classes 6 to 12 — Ganita Manjari for Class 9, Ganita Prakash for Classes 6 to 8, and the Class 10, 11 and 12 books — 708 topics across 88 chapters. Videos are live for Classes 6 to 12 today, and all 708 of those topics have their video, their pages and their check. Class 9 covers Ganita Manjari Part I, chapters 1 to 8; Part II, chapters 9 to 14, is coming. PrepShorts is mathematics only; we would rather finish one subject properly than start four. The What’s covered lists every chapter we cover and every one still to come, video time included.
What’s coveredIs this aligned to the NCERT textbook?
Built from it, page by page. Videos cite the book’s figures and sections by number, activities are the book’s activities, and nothing is taught that the chapter doesn’t teach.
Does it replace tuition, or the teacher?
No — it’s a companion. Teachers see progress, answer doubts and decide what the class revises. PrepShorts makes sure every topic has been properly met before the exam does.
What does it cost?
Individual student accounts are free and stay free. A school pays ₹25,000 a year + GST for all its classes, and schools joining now pay ₹15,000 + GST for their first year; teachers join through their school. Any change to that will be announced to schools in writing and in advance — and no study history is ever locked behind a payment. There is no advertising.
Is my child’s data safe?
We collect the minimum, sell nothing, show progress only to the student, their teachers and their school, and hold student data under India’s DPDP Act. The privacy policy and child-safety page spell it out.
