Terms of service
Last updated 17 September 2026 · The agreement between you and Aditya Kedia, who runs PrepShorts, when you use prepshorts.com
1. The agreement
By creating an account or using PrepShorts, you accept these terms. If a school signs an agreement with us, that agreement governs the school’s relationship and these terms govern each individual account. If you are under 18, a parent, guardian or your school accepts these terms on your behalf. Where an account is opened with a school code, that acceptance runs through the school’s own enrolment; where it is opened without one, we do not yet collect a parent’s contact details, and building that step is open work we describe on the data-protection page.
2. Accounts and eligibility
There are three kinds of account. Student accounts belong to the student and are opened by signing in with a Google account; where a school code is used they are visible to that school as described in the privacy policy. Teacher accounts attach to a school code and are approved by the school office. School accounts are opened by an authorised representative of the institution. You agree to give accurate details, to sign in only with a Google account that is yours, and to tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused. PrepShorts holds no password of yours — Google does the signing in — so an account is only as safe as the Google account behind it. One person, one account.
3. School codes
A school code connects an account to a school’s roster; it never restricts what an account can study. Codes are issued to verified institutions only, may not be published openly, and may be rotated by the school at any time. Joining with a code you are not entitled to use — for instance, to view a roster you have no role in — is a breach of these terms and grounds for immediate termination. A student who leaves a school may unlink from it and keeps their own study history.
4. Acceptable use
PrepShorts exists for study. You agree not to: attempt to access another person’s data; probe, scrape or overload the service; upload anything unlawful, abusive or off-purpose through a doubt or a page rating; impersonate a teacher, school or other student; resell access; or use the service to harass anyone. Doubts are read by teachers — writing to a teacher through a doubt carries the same standards of conduct your school expects in a classroom. We may suspend accounts that put other users at risk while we investigate, and we tell the school when we do.
5. Content and intellectual property
The NCERT textbooks — including titles such as Ganita Prakash — are the property of the National Council of Educational Research and Training. PrepShorts’s references and page citations exist to accompany the printed book, not to replace it, and every student is expected to own or have access to the official textbook. The videos, briefs, checks, interface and the PrepShorts name are the property of Aditya Kedia, who runs PrepShorts. You may not copy, re-upload or redistribute the videos or checks outside the service. The one sample video on the public home page is the exception and may be shared freely — that is what it is there for. What you write — a doubt, or the private line beside a page rating — remains yours; you give us the licence needed to store it and show it back to you, and, for a doubt, to your teachers and your class.
6. Textbook material in the reader
Topic pages open the relevant chapter of the NCERT textbook in a reader so the printed pages can be consulted beside the video. That material is published by NCERT and remains its property; we reproduce it for study reference only, unmodified, with its source stated. Nothing you do in the reader is tracked beyond the fact that you opened it, and the printed book remains the authority where anything differs.
7. Pricing
Individual student accounts are free of charge. A school is charged ₹25,000 a year plus GST for all its classes, and schools joining now are charged ₹15,000 plus GST for their first year; teachers use PrepShorts through their school. The fee is agreed in writing with each school and invoiced directly. PrepShorts takes no payment through this site: there is no card form, no payment provider, and no billing or payment detail of any kind is collected or stored in the product. Any change to that pricing will be announced to schools in writing, in advance, with time to decide — no account will be converted to a paid plan silently, and no study history will ever be held hostage to a payment.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep PrepShorts available around the school day and maintain it during off-hours, but no online service can promise perfection: outages, maintenance windows and network failures happen. We may improve, change or retire features; if a change removes something schools rely on, we give notice. Study data export (Section 10 of the privacy policy) is always available regardless of feature changes.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time from your profile or by writing to us; closure triggers the deletion process described in the privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these terms, and school agreements may be ended by either side per their own notice periods. Sections that by nature survive — intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, governing law — survive termination.
10. Disclaimers
PrepShorts is a study companion, not a guarantee of marks. We work hard to keep videos and checks faithful to the book, and we correct errors quickly when schools or students point them out — but the service is provided “as is”, and the official textbook and your teachers remain the authoritative sources for any examination. Nothing here limits protections that Indian consumer law grants you regardless of contract.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, PrepShorts’ total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the amount you or your school paid us in the twelve months before the claim — and where nothing has been paid, to re-performing the service. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for failures of networks, devices or third-party services we do not control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Jaipur, Rajasthan have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection venue that applies to you. Before either side goes to court, we commit to trying to resolve the matter directly — most issues are fixed by a conversation with the school.
13. Changes to these terms & contact
2 September 2026. A line-by-line pass of this document against the database that actually stores the data. Section 1 no longer says a parent’s contact is taken at sign-up, and Section 2 no longer refers to a password: sign-in is a Google account and PrepShorts holds neither. Section 4 and Section 5 refer to a doubt and a page rating rather than to notes, because there is no notebook in the product.
When these terms change materially we update the date above, post the change here, and notify schools before it takes effect. Continued use after notice means acceptance. Questions about these terms: legal@prepshorts.com · PrepShorts · Aditya Kedia · Jaipur, Rajasthan, India · or the contact page.
